About us
We are Clare, Siobhan and Justin, all living in North Belfast, just below the Cavehill. Frustrated at the lack of anywhere decent to eat in North Belfast, we were inspired to have a go and start up a supperclub.
We all love food, cooking, eating and feeding people. Siobhan and Justin work together in a community garden in the Waterworks (see www.grow-ni.org), growing wonderful organic fruit, vegetables and flowers together with community gardeners from North Belfast. Clare works for the Irish Congress of Trade Unions by day.
Inspired by her mother Marie (herself a wonderful cook and possibly the first person in Belfast to make homemade pesto circa 1985) , Clare has been a keen cook from an early age. Vegetarian for nearly 30 years, Clare loves to bake and regularly makes sourdough and spelt bread as well as cakes and other delectables.
Hailing from Ardara, Donegal, Siobhan has been living and working in Belfast since the early 1990s. Her early mentor Patrick Gildea from the Beehive bar in Ardara gave her a tiny patch of garden to grow what she wanted. Spuds were the obvious choice and once she harvested 27 potatoes from one plant, she was bitten by the growing bug. Siobhan is our chief food taster and tester, story teller and all round entertainer.
Justin, originally a Ballymoney man, has been living in Belfast for many years. A talented chef, many people will know Justin from St George's market where he made and sold delicious fresh pasta and pasta sauces. See www.belfastpasta.com for more about Justin.
